I was able to create this "Nightmare Before Christmas" cake for a Sweet 16. I guess this is her favorite movie...and why not? It's silly, and spooky, and romantic all rolled into one.
The top tier I made out of rice cereal. I don't typically do that, but I didn't trust any cake to hold that kind of shape without completely collapsing.
The topper is an edible image that I affixed onto gumpaste. I wish I knew how to cut a closer line to the characters without destroying the image. It seemed to stretch too much. I suppose it's always tricky the first time you try anything new.
